This year has begun with good news for the job market. First the banks announced a large-scale recruitment drive followed by the Indian Railways which announced that it will recruit more than 1.25 lakh people in a mega recruitment drive. And now, it's the turn of the Big Four to hire big time.
The top professional services firms, Ernst & Young, PwC, KPMG and Deloitte, together called the Big Four, are likely to hire 43,000 people in the next four years.
According to a news report published in The Economic Times, the massive hiring in being propelled by a rise in business in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, various state government projects, growing work in telecom infrastructure and an increased focus on emerging markets by global headquarters.
Those likely to benefit the most from the mega job offers are fresh graduates, engineers, chartered accountants and MBAs. Together they will account for 60-80 per cent of the new hires.
